Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule Review - ISNTREE

Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule Review - ISNTREE

AD – Sponsored | ISNTREE gifted me their beauty products in exchange for an authentic review.

Today I am going to review ISNTREE’s acne range product, the “Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule, 50ml / 1.69 fl. oz.”, retailing at $38.50. ISNTREE” is one of the best Korean beauty brands that keeps trending with its every product launch.

How green, clean, pure, vegan, sustainable, and customer oriented a cosmetics brand can get? That too many words but it is all “ISNTREE”. This post contains brand, and product information as given on the Isntree website. Review and additional information is my own expertise and experience; irrespective of what the internet says. So, let’s get to it.

SECTION I: ISNTREE

ISNTREE is a vegan and green beauty brand. Isntree is symbolic of island, nature, and tree. It represents the leaf of nature, and a pure and clean island that is free of pollution. Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule Review

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule

What is Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule, 50ml / 1.69 fl. oz., $38.50, soothes and clarifies irritated skin. It contains 85% Ganghwa capillary wormwood, specie of mugwort. Mugwort calms troubled skin and strengthens the skin barrier due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Capillary wormwood was extracted with their trademark Time Drop method. The method extracts only the effective ingredients over a long period of time, drop by drop. The high-purity effective ingredients extracted from capillary wormwood include vitamins and antioxidants that nourishes, strengthens, repairs, and protects the skin from environmental stressors.

The fermented mugwort extract replaces water in this ampoule. The product has additional ingredients such as licorice root extract, ceramides, panthenol, and beta-glucan to rejuvenate skin. It has a slightly viscous but watery texture that absorbs without any stickiness. The product is suitable for sensitive and irritated skin types.

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule is an award winner. It has won the titles “Allure Korea's Best of Beauty Award-winner 2019”, and “GLOWPICK Consumer Beauty Awards 2019”.

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule Texture and Finish

What is Mugwort

Mugwort is a perennial plant. It is a common name belonging to the aromatic flowering plant with the genus Artemesia. It is also called wormwood, and ssuk in Korea. The specie from the genus Artemesia used in the Isntree Mugwort Ampoule is Artemesia Princeps. The capillary wormwood was taken from the Ganghwa Island in South Korea. Mugwort is a culinary and traditional medicinal herb that has been used since ancient times. Mugwort is a powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant.

What does Mugwort do for skin

Mugwort has taken over Korean cosmetics ingredients and is very popular. It is used to treat atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriasis, cystic acne, skin bruises and rashes. Mugwort for skin is the advanced version of tea tree to treat acne. It heals damaged skin and decreases redness. Due to its phenol compound, mugwort fights off free radicals from pollution, environmental stressors, and UV rays.

SECTION II: THE REVIEW

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule

Packaging

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule has quite a sleek and minimalist packaging. This Isntree mugwort ampoule has the best dropper I have ever used.

How do you use Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule

After cleansing and toning, apply a few drops on the face. Tap for absorption if needed.

I cleanse my face and then use a few drops on the face and neck. I usually don’t need to tap because the texture is watery and gets absorbed by itself. I often layer it and my skin drinks it all up. I follow up with a moisturizer, and sometimes only with sunscreen depending upon the level of moisture my skin needs.

How Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule is Different from Its competitors

Isntree Mugwort Ampoule can be compared with similar product categories such as essences and serums. There are a few products in the markets but among the best-selling are from I'm From and Missha. I'm From Mugwort Essence has a very simple formulation. It has only three ingredients with one star ingredient. It can be used to treat only those skin concerns the ingredient addresses. It retails for $40 for 160ml.

Missha Time Revolution Artemesia Treatment Essence is a closer comparison to Isntree mugwort ampoule. It is also an award winner. It has five ingredients with one star ingredient. The mugwort ingredient is fermented twice to make this product. Fermentation increases nutrition value of the ingredient making the product more moisturizing. It retails for $55 for 150ml.

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule is different from others because it is an award winner for its innovative formulation! They extracted effective ingredients from mugwort over a long period of time. And every drop is full of only the selective nutrients needed to make the skin healthy. And it has additional useful ingredients to promote healthy skin barrier and complexion with licorice root extract, ceramides, allantoin, and natural moisturizing factors such as Beta glucan. This is the reason the price is slightly higher because the formulation involves more time and resources to produce the product.

Difference between Isntree's Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule, and Hyaluronic Acid Water Essence

I often see bloggers comparing the Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule with their another product Hyaluronic Acid Water Essence, and favoring the latter. I’ll talk about the HA (Hyaluronic Acid) essence in a bit but first, there is a catch about the HA ingredient. HA can also be a tricky ingredient for some people. It can cause redness on the skin due to inflammation, although that is rare and can vary from person to person. The reason is the molecular size. Smaller molecule HA often tends to be pro-inflammatory.

But this HA essence is known to be one of the best ones in the market and also top ranking in the world! And I say this with no exaggeration. If you find a HA product that does not suit you, then try this one. But comparing it with the mugwort ampoule is not relevant because the products perform different functions. If you have acne, eczema, reactive, or sensitive skin, mugwort ampoule is the product for you. As mugwort is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, it would reduce redness acne breakout. Also, mugwort ampoule would strengthen the skin barrier. But if you want to treat dry and dehydrated skin to make it look plump and dewy, get their Hyaluronic Acid Water Essence.

Key Decision Making Factors while choosing to buy Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule

Isntree is great at pricing. If a product is slightly expensive, it is because of the formulation, e.g. mugwort ampoule.

Isntree essence and ampoule quantities are more as compared to market, which makes their pricing economical and competitive. Isntree offers 50ml of this mugwort ampoule as compared to 20-30ml of "ampoules" in the market, making it great value for money.

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule is an award winning beautiful formulation. Mugwort is making a great ingredient combination with licorice root extract to ease inflammation, and ceramides to strengthen skin.

Pros and Cons

This ampoule is perfectly formulated for itchy, irritated, sensitive skin, and acne prone skin. It is a mild product and very gentle. It performed nice on my acne.

The product has no negatives. However, if you're looking for extra hydration for your dry skin with no other significant concerns, their HA Water essence would be a better choice because the mugwort ampoule would give your skin a matte finish.

Verdict

Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule soothed and calmed my skin. It eliminated the itch I got on my acne recently. The product acts like a protective shield from external stressors.

This product would be perfect for sensitive, itchy, reactive, troubled, and acne prone skin types. But this product was not 100% targeted for my skin. My main skin concern is that once the acne settles, it leaves dents and pits. To settle acne, I can use the mugwort ampoule, but to treat pitted scars I would need stronger treatments such as their Chestnut AHA 8% Clear Essence. Also, I do not have redness, or rashes; my skin is rather dry. So I would be trying more of their product options that cater my need. But I was sad when my bottle finished, because it felt so gentle on the skin. If I feel my skin lifeless and troubled again I would definitely buy it.

For a gentle and long term skin barrier strengthening treatment, Isntree Spot Saver Mugwort Ampoule is a very solid contender. So remember, always stay patient with your skincare. That's all on the Isntree Mugwort Ampoule Review. I hope you find it useful. Leave your thoughts in the comment section below. I'll see you again soon.

  6. Excellent review 😊 It's nice to read about these more natural products. Being highly sensitive I struggle a lot with chemicals.
